Agreement
These terms apply when you use Scissor Text at text.scissor.studio, including its tools, the app and the AI features. Scissor Text is made by Samal Studios. By using it, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
The service
Scissor Text is a set of free text tools that run in your browser. There is no account, no subscription and no fee. We may add, change or remove tools and features at any time, and we may stop offering the service.
Your text stays yours
Everything you type, paste or open is processed on your device and is never sent to us. You keep all rights to your text and to what the tools produce from it. Documents in the app are saved in your browser on this device only: they are not backed up, and clearing your browser data, using a private window or switching device removes or hides them. Please keep copies of anything important. Our privacy policy explains what little we do receive.
AI features
The AI writer, grammar checker, translator, text to speech and the other AI tools run open AI models on your device. Their results can be wrong, incomplete, out of date, biased or inappropriate, and the same request can give different answers. Check every result before you rely on it or share it. AI results are not legal, medical, financial or other professional advice. You are responsible for how you use them, including following the rules of your school, employer or publisher about AI and respecting other people's rights.
AI models and their licenses
The AI models are made by others and are downloaded to your browser when you choose to use them: the writing models from Hugging Face, and the voice model from this site. Each model has its own license and use policy, which you agree to by downloading and using it, for example the Llama 3.2 Community License and Acceptable Use Policy (Built with Llama), the Gemma Terms of Use and Prohibited Use Policy, and the Apache License 2.0 for Qwen and Kokoro. We do not control these models and are not responsible for their content.
Acceptable use
Do not use Scissor Text to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, to harass, deceive or harm people, to create spam or malicious software, or to interfere with the site or its servers, for example by overloading them or trying to get around their security.
Our site
The site, its design, code, text and the Scissor names and logos belong to Samal Studios. You may use the tools for personal and commercial work, but you may not copy, resell or republish the site or its code. The open-source components and models it uses remain under their own licenses.
No warranty
Scissor Text is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and uninterrupted availability. Tools may contain errors and may not work in every browser or on every device.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Samal Studios is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for loss of data, documents, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of Scissor Text or of anything it produces. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If you keep using Scissor Text after a change, the updated terms apply.
